AEGON released the 2009 Corporate Sustainability Report on April 21, 2010. The report covers AEGON operations in the Americas, Europe and Asia.
Inside the report
Principles and objectives
AEGON believes it can make a valuable contribution to the wider community not only as a provider of long-term financial products and services, but also as a responsible employer and investor.
“Our business is, by nature long-term and is only sustainable if we maintain the confidence and trust of our customers, business partners, shareholders and employees,” says Chief Executive Officer Alex Wynaendts in the report.
Structure
The 2009 Sustainability Report is structured around AEGON’s main stakeholder groups: customers, shareholders, employees, business partners and the wider communities in which the company operates.
This ‘stakeholder framework’ provides a more balanced approach to measuring the company’s overall performance, which takes into account financial, social and environmental factors.
