Education
Graduate Ecole Supérieure d’Electricité, Paris, degree in economics, University of Paris, Sorbonne.

Career
Alex Wynaendts began his career in 1985 with ABN Amro, working in Amsterdam and London in the Dutch bank’s capital markets, asset management, corporate finance and private banking operations. In 1997, Mr. Wynaendts joined AEGON as Senior Vice-President for Group Business Development.

Since 2003, he has been a member of AEGON’s Executive Board, overseeing the Group’s international growth strategy. In April 2007, Mr. Wynaendts was named AEGON’s new Chief Operating Officer and in April 2008, Mr. Wynaendts took  over from Don Shepard as Chairman of AEGON’s Executive Board.

Member of the Board of Holland Financial Centre, a joint initiative by the financial industry to strengthen the Dutch financial sector
Member of the Board of the Fiep Westendorp Foundation, supporting the artistic development of children

Past Board memberships

Jan Nooitgedagt has worked in Europe’s financial services sector for almost 30 years. Educated at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, he worked briefly for PriceWaterhouseCoopers before joining Ernst & Young in 1980. He became a partner of the firm in 1989. In addition to his audit experience, Mr. Nooitgedagt has played a key role in developing Ernst & Young’s financial services business, as well as taking a leading role in the firm’s growing Merger & Acquisitions advisory practice.

Mr. Nooitgedagt headed Ernst & Young’s financial services business in the Netherlands for five years, until his appointment in 2005 to the firm’s Executive Committee in the Netherlands. A year later, Mr. Nooitgedagt was appointed Chairman of Ernst & Young in the Netherlands, before being named Managing Partner for the Netherlands and Belgium in July 2008.
