New thinking
We want AEGON to be recognized as an important player in global financial services – not just for our financial strength or the extent of our businesses, but for the quality of our products, our openness to new thinking and our clear and straightforward approach to customers and other stakeholders.
- In June 2008, AEGON set out a new, ambitious growth plan, ‘Unlocking the Global Potential’, designed to increase earnings and improve returns over the next several years. We believe that this strategy is the right one in the today’s difficult market environment. It will ensure AEGON is well-placed to withstand the current global financial crisis and benefit from an eventual upturn in market conditions.
- We use our capital effectively, directing our resources toward areas that will offer us strong growth and high returns. These measures, combined with additional resources from the Dutch State, will ensure we are able to maintain a strong capital position, despite the recent turmoil in world financial markets.
- We encourage talent development through AEGON University and the creation of special ‘talent pools’, recognizing that the people we employ are our most important asset.
