Compliance

AEGON has a clear and well-defined system of compliance, which sets out the company’s core values, underlying principles of business practice and rules, regulations and guidelines for employees at all its operations around the world.


This system of compliance is essential to:

  • Ensure long-term trust among AEGON’s customers and employees
  • Promote sustainable, profitable growth
  • Protect the company’s brand and reputation.

AEGON’s Code of Conduct and its Business Principles establish clear rules and guidelines for dealing with issues such as:

  • Ensuring non-discrimination in the workplace
  • Detecting and tackling fraud, money laundering and corruption
  • Respecting the environment and promoting greater environmental responsibility
  • Ensuring clear, accurate and timely disclosure of financial and other information
  • Protecting free and open competition, and ensuring confidentiality of information and data supplied by customers, shareholders, business partners and employees.

Alongside the Code of Conduct and Business Principles, AEGON has a round-the-clock, multi-lingual ‘Global Ethics Line’, enabling employees worldwide to report in confidence any suspected violations of the Code.

Earlier this year AEGON also adopted a Global Compliance Charter which clearly sets out the roles and responsibilities of the company and its businesses with regard to compliance.
