International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8 marks a great opportunity to shine a light on the role of woman within our own business and beyond. However, this day is about more than just celebrating. The day also marks a call to action as women and allies join hands to accelerate gender parity. The official worldwide theme this year was #EmbraceEquity.
At Aegon and Transamerica, we recognize our unique opportunity and responsibility to help create a healthy, equal world without barriers. Around the world, colleagues from Aegon and Transamerica organized in-person and virtual events to foster conversations to improve inclusion and diversity (I&D) and contribute to Aegon’s I&D commitments, working towards creating that equitable world.
With the help of internal speakers as well as external guests like TED talk speaker Sophie Williams and Spanish professional golfer Azahara Muñoz, colleagues in the US and the UK were also offered a different perspective on the intersection between race and gender and discussed personal experiences of female entrepreneurship, achieving financial independence, and balancing the demands of motherhood with the challenges of an ambitious career path.
While in the Netherlands, colleagues together with an expert panel focused on how to achieve a more equal and equitable workforce.
I&D is one of our key building blocks to our sustainability approach. For more information, please visit our Sustainability section.
