Senior System Engineer - Mainframe/Storage (Work from Home)
Responsibilities include supporting Mainframe Storage devices and software, installing, testing, maintenance and documentation on mainframe zOS systems in a sysplex environment along with projects as required.
What You Will Do:
- Support non-prime business hours, including weekends.
- Daily support of the mainframe storage devices and software to ensure the overall health of mainframe storage ensuring the overall health of the environment.
- Moderate to advanced problem resolution – resolving problems to final resolution with root cause.
- Ability to work with our vendors to trouble shoot problems and fixes as well as the ability to provide and identify diagnostics needed for root cause.
- Proactive daily monitoring of key mainframe system metric to identify improvement opportunities.
- Problem prevention – reviewing system and software information on a regular basis in addition to reviewing vendor detail for potential system bugs and maintenance that need to be applied.
- On-call support and fulfilling support requests/questions from customers.
- Supporting disaster recovery testing exercises.
- Project work both internal GTS and Business Unit driven.
- Installing third-party mainframe software and software fixes.
- Design and adaptation of platforms to meet Aegon business requirements.
- Continuously making improvements to deliver best-in-class service availability and cost.
What You Will Need:
Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of z architecture mainframe systems is required for a candidate to
be considered for this role. - Behavioral skills and technical skills present.
- Moderate understanding of system concepts of IT Infrastructure environments.
- Advanced understanding of z architecture hardware.
- Moderate working ability to a programming language, i.e. Assembler, COBOL, REXX, SAS.
- Moderate knowledge of JCL, TSO/ISPF and SDSF concepts and functionalty.
- Understands and practices documented testing and implementation procedures.
- Knowledge of Disaster Recovery concepts.
- Strong skills in both verbal and written communication.
- Strong analytical Thinking.
- Attention to Detail: Applying relevant quality standards to most tasks undertaken.
- Capable of working in a highly-collaborative working environment with colleagues and
customers from different cultural backgrounds. - Complies with information security policies qualifications here
Preferred
- 5-7 years of experience in a mainframe support role is required.

Compensation:
The US salary for this position generally ranges between $87,200 - $119,900 annually. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
Additionally in the US, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at the Company’s discretion.
