Specialist Software Engineering (CyberLife Mainframe)
Responsibilities
- Lead analysis and complex architectural design across platforms toward the development of end-to-end solutions; translate architectural guidance into detailed technical design.
- Lead committees or projects to help define organization-wide standards, processes, and guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with other development staff, including contract and offshore Software Engineers, and business product owners in an agile environment.
- Code, test, identify, implement, and document solutions to business challenges utilizing web and cloud technologies.
- Perform design and analysis for deliverables. Lead large team design sessions.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for a wide range of areas, applications, and technologies
- Recommend solutions that take into consideration costs, business needs, and system impacts.
- Lead mainframe development staff, including contract and off-shore developers; may have supervisory responsibility over employees.
- Learn and keep pace with the latest advances in the field and rapidly grasp new technologies to support the environment and contribute to project deliverables.
- Prepare presentations and lead development meetings.
Required Skills / Knowledge
- 10+ years of experience working on Mainframes.
- Knowledge of mainframe technologies COBOL, VSAM, JCL, REXX, CICS, DB2, TWS etc.)
- Knowledge of interfaces from Policy Admin Systems
- In-depth understanding of the Life Insurance domain
- Providing all aspects of product setup on Cyberlife Administration systems (97.01/00.01/10.01) for current and future products
- Providing plan description cards, issue age, current interest rate, miscellaneous premium, rates, tables, and parms based on product specifications and actuarial data
- Providing base product testing and testing of rates/calculations and modifications
- Translating product specifications to plan description file fields/system attributes.
- Determining the best approach to setting up products in Cyberlife
- Recommending rate file or dynamic calculations, where applicable
- Assisting product analysts performing similar duties and Cyberlife developers and business analysts in coding and testing modifications
- Working experience in developing new functions as well as experience as an analyst
- Experience working in onshore-offshore model
- Ability to write test scenarios for the developed functionality.
- Applying Analytical & Coding skills for designing system changes
- Preferably knowledge of CyberLife online and batch processing architecture
- Produce Technical documentation covering module-level specs, work product reviews, Process improvements, and unit test scenarios
- Participation in functional walkthroughs and understanding of business and related processing requirements.
- Advanced understanding of software development and research tools
- Attention to detail and results-oriented, with a strong customer focus
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills Technical communication skills and the ability to present information to all levels of the organization.
- Problem-solving and technical communication skills Ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Highly technical Cyberlife business analyst or Cyberlife developer with extensive product knowledge. Previous product setup experience is ideal.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, information systems, or related field preferred
- Experience working with the interface of information technology with functional groups within an organization.
- Experience working with business processes and re-engineering
- Experience working with computer programming concepts and basic language
- Ten or more years of experience with Cyberlife
- Experience in life insurance
Compensation
**Please note that the compensation information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position only and is provided pursuant to applicable pay transparency and compensation posting laws. It is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid in certain Company locations.**
The Salary for this position generally ranges between $115,000 - $153,000 annually/. This range is an estimate, based on potential qualifications and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
Additionally, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus of 15% based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at the Company’s discretion.
