As part of the Defined Benefit (DB) Operations team, facilitates a variety of processes including system programming, quality assurance, data analysis, benefit calculations, payment processing, death processing, payment verifications, and beneficiary forms.
Responsibilities
Perform complex and manual DB retirement calculations and other processes using knowledge ERISA and actuarial based tools, taking ownership of identified issues through to resolution.
Support specialized projects and provide technical guidance to internal partners, including data analysis, manual research, and population identification.
Perform defined benefit payment processing and support payment maintenance including SOC1 compliance and tax documents (1099).
Research, recommend, and document improvements in service and productivity to ensure quality service.
Mentor lower level team members.
Oversee overpayment process and make corrections to tax forms as needed.
Review and reconcile Taxport files and foreign tax forms to ensure proper reporting of taxes on 1099R, 1042, and W-Update and reissue tax forms as necessary.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business, math, finance, actuarial science, or related field, or equivalent education/experience
Four years of relevant work experience
Good understanding of retirement industry regulations and the ability appropriately interpret rules
Good understanding of defined benefit pension and actuarial concepts
Basic knowledge of computer programming
Strong math and statistical skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain complex concepts to customers
Strong organizational and prioritization skills
Proficiency using MS Word, Excel
Preferred Qualifications
Basic SQL query skills
