Aegon has a well-defined system of compliance that ensures we maintain a commitment to our core values, adhere to our Code of Conduct and comply with relevant laws and regulations.

Aegon's system of compliance is essential, not only for employee and customer trust, but to promote sustainable, profitable growth, and to protect Aegon's brand and reputation.

Our senior management have made it their responsibility to ensure that Aegon employees receive the information and training they need in order to understand and act in compliance with relevant laws, regulations and internal policies.

Group Regulatory Compliance

Group Regulatory Compliance, as established in Aegon's Group Regulatory Compliance Charter, operates as a stand-alone function and oversees group-wide compliance management.

The Team identifies regulatory requirements and compliance risks, develops strategies and policies and works with the management of our business units around the world to ensure that these regulations are effectively complied with.

More specifically, Group Regulatory Compliance is responsible for safeguarding how the entire Aegon organization operates within a clearly defined global compliance framework.

It proactively advises our Management Board on acting in a compliant manner, from both strategic and operational perspectives. It is also responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of compliance approach on a global level.

Code of Conduct

Our Code of Conduct defines the attitudes and behaviors we expect all employees to adopt. It also establishes clear rules and guidelines for ensuring non-discrimination in the workplace; detecting and tackling fraud, money laundering and corruption; respecting the environment and promoting greater environmental responsibility; ensuring clear, accurate and timely disclosure of financial and other information; protecting free and open competition; and ensuring confidentiality of information and data supplied by customers, shareholders, business partners and employees.

Aegon Global Ethics Line

Aegon encourages openness and therefore expects not only its employees and contractors, but also third parties such as suppliers and agents to report suspicious or unlawful activity, unethical conduct, threats to public interest or infringement of Aegon's Code of Conduct.

It is manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by independent third party specialists. The website is available in 14 languages and the helpline is free from any country in which Aegon operates.

Global Financial Crime, Notification, Investigation and Reporting Procedure

Aegon also has a formal complaints procedures in place for suspected violations of financial controls. Our Global Financial Crime Notification, Investigation and Reporting Procedure provides a clear definition of what constitutes financial crime and helps in tracking incidents of fraud and corruption.
