Aegon launches research center for longevity and retirement

The Hague, The Netherlands, May 22, 2015

The Center will reinforce company’s purpose of helping customers take responsibility for their financial future.

Today, Aegon announced the launch of the Aegon Center for Longevity and Retirement (The Center) to demonstrate its commitment to retirement research and reinforce its purpose of helping people take greater levels of personal responsibility for their long-term financial security.

Since 2012, Aegon has been publishing studies and offering insights on the retirement preparedness of individuals and families around the world
 

"Since 2012, Aegon has been publishing studies and offering insights on the retirement preparedness of individuals and families around the world. Today, we are pleased to announce the launch of Aegon Center for Longevity and Retirement to expand our efforts and reach a broader audience on this important topic of global concern," said Marc van Weede, Aegon's Global Head of Strategy and Sustainability and Executive Sponsor of The Center.

Aegon Center for Longevity and Retirement is a collaboration of experts from Aegon's businesses in Europe, the Americas and Asia as well as third-party experts.

The Center has relationships with respected partners in the field of longevity and retirement, such as the Leyden Academy for Vitality and Ageing and the Global Coalition on Aging. It will also seek opportunities to work with other renowned academics in the field of aging, demographic change and retirement in order to strengthen its research and identify new uses for its data.

"At the Aegon Center for Longevity and Retirement, we are passionate about conducting research, educating the public, and informing a global dialogue on aging, longevity, and retirement security," said Catherine Collinson, Executive Director of The Center. Going forward, The Center will be a focal point for Aegon's research on people's attitudes toward aging and retirement, and will publish Aegon's annual global retirement study and calculate the Aegon Retirement Readiness Index.

The Center is based in The Hague in The Netherlands and collaborates closely with Transamerica Institute, which has been conducting research on retirement, health and aging in the United States for more than a decade.
