Team Reception at Aegon Head Office

In the Netherlands, Team NL and their coaches were received at Aegon's Head Office, where they were addressed by Ambassador, Lize Weerdenburg. Liz has competed twice in the games, once with long distance running, and once with sprinting in the winter games. She explained how important the games had been for her development, and that everyone taking part is already a winner. Together with Ambassadors from other countries she joined Michelle Obama at the opening.

Athletes also received media training from former athlete and world champion Nelli Coomen. He explained how to hold the microphone and how to look into the camera. The day ended with a team photo.

By the first weekend, Team NL had their first three medals - Bronze for the 50m breast stroke and Bronze and Gold in the 25m back stroke.
