Deshima Business Award 2014 for Aegon Sony Life Insurance in Japan

Aegon’s joint venture in Japan (Aegon Sony Life Insurance) has received the Deshima Business Award for large enterprises. The jury panel, praised Aegon Sony Life as ‘a wonderful example of Dutch entrepreneurship in Japan.’

The biannual Deshima Award was presented at a trade dinner attended by delegates of the Dutch trade delegation, including Aegon's CEO Alex Wynaendts who is travelling with King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima on their State Visit to Japan.

During the mission, Mr. Wynaendts will present and discuss potential solutions for helping Japanese customers secure their financial future in a sustainable way. Mr. Wynaendts will talk to representatives from both the government of Japan and the Japanese business community.

Key findings from the annual Japanese Aegon Retirement Readiness Survey show that although Japanese customers have a strong awareness of their financial needs in retirement, this does not lead to taking actions to save for retirement.
