Young Aegon gets a new addition to its global family

Global, April 7, 2015

Young Aegon, a group for 'Growing' Aegon Professionals, was established in the Netherlands in 2008. Today, Young Aegon has over 300 members in the Netherlands alone. This month, Young Aegon Spain became the newest group.

Members of Young Aegon are aged between 25 and 35, and just starting their career at Aegon. The group plans a mix of fun and informative events each year.

The fun events consist of monthly drinks, dance parties, and ski trips, to name a few. These informal events can lead to sharing of best practice across country and functional borders, or help spark new and innovative ideas.

Personal development

The informative events include 'lunch and learn' sessions with key business speakers, business 'battles', or field trips such as a visit to the Dutch parliament. Inge Uriot from Aegon's Pension Team comments: "Young Aegon provides me with an opportunity to meet new people, get new insights, boost my network and have fun with my co-workers."

Currently, there are Young Aegon groups in the Netherlands and Spain. Members have regular contact, primarily through Communities (Aegon's internal social media), a WhatsApp group, Facebook, and email.

Cross functional and cross border interaction

In such a large and complex organization with operations in more than 25 countries, Young Aegon is a great opportunity for employees to network with colleagues from other departments. It's under these circumstances that the best ideas are often born. A number of members have also used their network to arrange a secondment at Aegon offices in India, Japan, and Ukraine.

Young Aegon hopes to continue to grow in the future. And just as Aegon's customer are becoming increasingly mobile and internationally oriented, Young Aegon have plans to hold future events in English to increase their international appeal.
