Aegon The Netherlands has reinstated its sponsorship for the Dutch Special Olympics in 2020.
Maarten Edixhoven, CEO of Aegon The Netherlands signed the sponsorship contract for the 2020 Special Olympics event in The Hague on May 20.
"Aegon has been a main sponsor of Special Olympics Netherlands for many years. This partnership officially came to an end in 2017. But the connection with the organization and with the athletes has always remained," Edixhoven said.
"We are happy to make the organization of the National Games in the city of our headquarters possible. We do this financially, but also by encouraging as many employees as possible to make a contribution during the National Games. I'm looking forward to it!"

At the signing on May 20, Anja Overhoff, Chair of the Special Olympics National Games 2020 Foundation noted, "It is great to see that an important partner such as Aegon shares the enthusiasm for these games. Not only by transferring money for the realization of the games, but by becoming a partner of the organization. We are proud of this event in our beautiful city, and very happy and proud to have Aegon as a main sponsor!"
The event is organized together with SGK (The Hague Handicapped Sport) and other sports associations and social partners. More than 2,000 athletes from the Netherlands with an intellectual disability will be welcomed to The Hague June 12 – 14, 2020. All athletes with an intellectual disability are welcome, regardless of level or previous performance.
