Laiza Gomes Da Silva
Program manager, Aegon International
I was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I'm a psychologist with a specialization in Social Psychology and Organizational Psychology and I’m finishing my MBA in leadership and innovation. I started working in Human Resources in 2011 and in 2014 I joined Aegon in Brazil. In 2019 I moved to work for Aegon in The Netherlands. My work covers Asia, South America, Europe, US and I’m passionate about connecting with people from different backgrounds.
I believe we can always learn from each other and that brings me a lot of energy. Next to my role, I do a volunteering work as the Chairwoman of Young Aegon association. The association has about 350 members and we organize development and social events to people at Aegon. I believe those initiatives help people to connect, feel heard and seen, bringing a strong sense of belonging and higher retention rates to the organization.
Growing up in such a diverse country (and with so much inequality) as Brazil, made me learn at an early age the importance of supporting and admiring people the way they are, truly believing we are stronger together. My heart is also very close to social initiatives where we can give opportunities to people with less privileged backgrounds. I’m also very close and passionate about everything related to psychology and Psychological Safety in organizations is one of my biggest passions. I could speak about it for hours!
